Little house in the Desert

We were inspired by Courtney's baby food skills and decided to whip up a little baby food for Amy today. For the green stuff on the right, I steamed pears and broccoli together. The stuff on the left is not as black in person as it appears here, but it's still pretty gross. It's blueberries, banana, ans spinach. We learned from Gerber that babies will eat any old thing if you grind some fruit up in there with it. That's because babies aren't very smart. Anyway, she loves both of them. I froze them in 1 oz ice-cube trays for easy portioning. Amy will feed herself finger foods and she really likes lots of fruits, but I don't know how to feed her things like spinach if it isn't in baby food form. Is she too old for ground up mush on a spoon? Should she be holding her own spoon? I don't know, but this is working for us and we've been able to sneak all kinds of healthy veggies into her tiny body. bwah hahaha!

We also made bread. I'm working on making loaves that look a little less rustic and a little more like French or Italian bread. This definitely has less flour all over it, but the slashes didn't come out so nice.

It's too hot to cut just now, but when it cools I'll let you know how we liked it.
